How Google Search Search engine works and what are the ranking factors

This is a very big and interesting topic and everyone want to know how google rank a website or webpage? what are the main things that we need to consider in designing website so that google can rank website when someone searches business related keywords.

So lets start

Meta Tag Optimization

A page meta tags are the code that provide information about page. Meta tag comes with 3 things – Title, description and keyword. We should optimize each page meta tag according to page information and this information should be unique. In most of the cases search engine will show this information as search result.

Heading Tags

Try to use proper heading tags (h1, h2, h3 .. h6) according to page content main topic and sub topics. These tags gives information to search engine about page topic. So thing before creating a page structure.

Write unique content

You may have heard this line – “Content is the king” in ranking of any webpage. So try to write unique content for your page and try to user user search related keywords or synonymous. Good bots are also work on AI basis and able to understands keywords synonymous and gives more important as well. There is no hard and fast rule for number of word each page should have, but this is recommended that each page should have at least 500 words content.

Code to text ratio

Each page should have more text as compare to HTML code. This will give more information to search engine crawler about the page and helps to understand page more like what is t this page is all about. This is always good to remove unwanted code from page to increase code text ratio. For SEO, code to HTML code ratio is anywhere between 40 to 75 percentage.  If you have good and relevant content on pages then it will reduce bounce rate, increase use engagement and user will share such page to social media as well.

Image Optimization

Google crawler is not able to read image content. So we need to provide additional information with each image via “Alt tag” about image. This alt tag will helps Google crawler to know more about image. If we optimize images properly then it will rank in search engine and able to drive traffic for website.

Content interlinking

This is always a good practice that we should interlink page content with respective pages. Internal links also connect your content and give Google an idea of the structure of your website. Try to use proper keyword or related keywords for content interlinking.

Navigation Structure of website

Website navigation structure should be simple and easy to understand by end user. It will increase usability of website. We recommends to have directory structure for better navigation and understanding.

Mobile friendly website

In this digital world, everyone have mobile and they try to search information via mobile. So it is good and necessary to have mobile friendly website, so that end user can see the information that he is looking. Now a days google also give importance to mobile friendly website.

Browser Compatibility

We don’t know which user is using which browser. So it is advisable to have browser friendly website.

Backlinks

Backlink have more weightage in google search ranking. So try to use quality backlinks from relevant sites. It is always good to use proper anchor text to get links for respective page. For example – if example.com is software company who deal with bid data topic and there is a big data page who provides more information about this topic then try to use backlinks for this page with bellow info.

sitemap.xml page is the good way to tell google about new pages so that google can index those pages.

Use this tool to submit xml or url to index pages. This tool also helps to get some error detail if page have.

use any analytic tool to understand end user behavior and traffic data. Take necessary action according to analytic data for better reach.

Google My Business listing

Use this feature for local SEO so that user can easily find business address and website link to know more about your business

Social Media

User social media channels for business to promote your product and services. Some time social business page will rank in search engine and you will get quality traffic for your website.
