What is SEO?

SEO stands for search engine optimization and it’s a technique to optimize website or web pages according to search engine algorithm so that particular webpage should appear in search engine result for respective keywords.

What is competitive analysis?

Competitive analysis means comparison between the website that I am optimizing and the website that appears in search results in first page ( competitors websites) with respect to different keywords.

What is 301 redirection ?

301 redirection is a SEO friendly redirection and Its a method to redirected user from old page to the new page or not existing URL to new URL. This is also called permanent redirection.

What is alt tag?

As you know, Google crawler is not able to read images and image content, so with the help of alt tag we try to provide image information to google crawler. alt tag is an HTML code which help to understand describe information about image in any webpage.

What are the places where you target or put your keywords?

  • Meta description ( that includes title, meta description and meta keywords)
  • In page url
  • In page content

What is exit rate and bounce rate or what are the website metrics ?

Metrics: – Metrics is a number which is good for tactical or diagnostic purpose.

KPI : KPI is a metrics that helps you to understand how you are doing against your objective or goal.

PageViews : How many times a page is downloaded or viewed by end user.

Visit or session : how many times a user visited site within a particular time frame (According to google, this time limit is 30 minutes)

Exit Rate – This is a metrics which helps webmaster to understand from which page user is leaving our site. For all pageviews to the page, Exit Rate is the percentage that were the last in the session.

Bounce Rate : For all sessions that start with the page, Bounce Rate is the percentage that were the only one of the session. Bounce Rate for a page is based only on sessions that start with that page.

Example – Lets take an example of a website which have 3 pages, page1, page3 and page2 and now we calculate exit rate and bounce rate

User1: Page1->page2->page3->Exit

User2: Page1->Page3–>Page2->Exit

User3: Page2->Page1->Page3->Exit

User4: Page2->Page1->Page2>Exit

User5: Page3->Exit

Now lets calculate Bounce rate and exit rate of each page

Exit Rate

  • Page1 = 25% ( 4 sessions includes page1, 1 session exited from page1)
  • Page2  = 66% (3 sessions includes page1, 2 session exited from page2)
  • Page3 = 75% (4 sessions includes page1, 3 session exited from page3)

Bounce Rate:

  • Page1 = 0% ( 2 sessions began with page1 but that is not single-page session, so it has no bounce rate)
  • Page2 = 0% ( 2 sessions began with page2 but that is not single-page session, so it has no bounce rate )
  • Page3 = 100% (1 sessions began with page3 and it leads to 100% bounce rate)

Unique Visitor and New Visitor  : When a user visit any website then google analytic set a cookies with unique id in visitors browser and on the basis of this cookies, google analytic is able to track like this is a new visitor or returning visitor. (Note – if user clear browser cookies, or switches device or browser to return website, then this will be consider a new visitor)

Google Search Console : – It helps you to understand your website health with respect to google and it is a free tool offered by Google. This tool also helps you to findout some troubleshoot your site’s presence in Google Search results like – page not found, links not available.

Search Console offers tools and reports for the following actions:

  • Confirm that Google can find and crawl your site.
  • Fix indexing problems and request re-indexing of new or updated content via sitemap or one page submission

MOZ : – It is a tool to analyse business insights about their website and competitors websites.

Ahrefs : This is the best tool to find out website backlinks

Screaming Frog : It crawls your entire website and lists out all key elements like external links, internal links, descriptions, HTTP status code, titles and more.

SEMRush : is an online tool which helps in improving online visibility and discovering marketing insights like keywords research, competitors paid campaign information, SEO, PPC, SMM, Competitive Research, PR, Content Marketing, Campaign Management, Marketing Insights etc

What is DoFollow Link ?

Do-follow link is the indicator to search engines that crawl them and consider them as quality of vote or pass the authority or link juice. By default all link are do-follow link.

Example – <a href=”https://www.google.com”>google</a> This is do follow link

<a rel=”nofollow” href=”http://abcd.com”>abcd</a> -> This is no follow link and In this case Google will not follow this link and will not give any value to back link.

do-follow links are more useful in SEO to boost ranking in SERP.

What is Keywords density, Keywords proximity and keywords frequency?

Keywords density – is the percentage of times that keywords or phrase appear in page content. Keyword density should be between 4 to 5 percentage.

Keywords proximity – is the distance between to keywords in a page

Keywords frequency – is the metrics like how frequently we are using keywords in content or how many times we are using keywords in content.

How to do SEO for video ?

As google crawler can not read video so it required text based information about video. Including the transcript as a text is an easy and best way to do SEO for a video because search engines can crawl the text and try to use same keywords in meta description and title of the page.

What is robot.txt file ?

It is a text file which provide information to search engine crawler like which pages he should index and which page / pages they are not allow to index or crawl.
